We all love our pets and at Okeford Veterinary Centre we understand that if your pet becomes unwell this can be a distressing time for pet owners. That’s why we don’t just ensure your pet is in the best possible care, but also that we do everything we can to help put your mind at ease. Here’s a quick run through of what happens when your pet is referred to our practice.
Your visit
The first consultation lasts one hour and includes taking a full history and a thorough examination of your pet. Non-invasive samples will be collected and analysed in the practice within the appointment. This helps us build our understanding of your pet, and how to best help them.
If further sampling is required, e.g. skin biopsies, then we will need to give your pet a mild sedation. We do everything we can to make this process as stress free as possible for your pet. No food should be given to your pet after 8pm the day before your appointment but please ensure water is available.
Once the sampling has been analysed, Kirstin will discuss the results and start a treatment plan. A full written report will be sent to your veterinary surgeons and where possible patients can be managed at their normal practice, while under Kirtsin’s guidance.
We also provide an email support service for pet owners that may have any further questions.
Fees
All fees are estimated and discussed with you before any treatment is undertaken. We are happy to organise direct insurance claims for insured pets, but request that you bring in a signed claim form and are aware of your current limit and spent amounts to avoid disappointment.
